2009 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing Panamericana Replica

Piston Heads wrote:Proposed by Gullwing-America, the 300 SL Panamericana rendered here is a contemporary take on an existing Gullwing reproduction made in Germany by Gullwing-AG.

The German version's classic lines have been altered by the removal of bumpers, a new grille, side-exit exhausts and a set of 17ins x 8ins AMG alloy wheels.

The Panamericana is conceived to be powered by a 5.5-litre Mercedes V8 delivering 365bhp and 390lb ft of torque. It gets a six-speed transmission, and a custom radiator and exhaust system. Stopping power comes from disc brakes all round.

The replica German bodies are made from 0.5mm thick aluminium over which a special epoxy resin and glass layer is added. In Panamericana trim modern conveniences would include air con, iPod connectivity, four point harnesses and an exact replica of orginal’s dashboard with full red leather interior. There’s also a full set of fitted leather luggage, but that doesn't seem to have been rendered yet!

Gullwing-America has also mooted a Merc V6 powered version of the Panamericana with 317bhp and a six-speed manual or seven-speed Speedtronic transmission.

This car looks awesome Drool
