Well, Craig, I have a few comments about your words (and also my feelings after this season start).
A big part of that 4 seconds "vanished" are coming from the dramatically different setup os the cars for qualifying vs. race. Absolutely different. I don't think last sunday anyone would be able to go into 1'57s even with new soft tyres no fuel.
What I'm absolutely opposed to is for implementing NOW a 2n mandatory tyres change (as it´s being suggested heavily since last Sunday). No, man. Rules are fixed since many months ago. Cars were designed and built according to be as fast as possible for being competitive in a 300km distance race. If only 1 tyre change was the best option, you can't now modify the rules for being mandatory a 2nd change. It's foolish, I think.
In any case there were just as many overtaking maneuvres than in previous years. No more, no less. Problem is aerodinamics -known for everyone-. Something has to be changed, but I´m not sure related to tyres nor refuelling...
By the way, I didn't saw that kind of presure 1 year ago when we saw one car (Brawn GP in which the master of all this show was taking economic part - curious-) using an unexpected difusser that became key of the season.
I heard Vettel's problems were originated by some spark plugs failure (even initially exhaust problems were reported). A real pity for him. His weeked was superb.
Anyway, let races go by... I'm sure we we'll see many fantastic races this season. Hopefully McLaren will improve their performance soon.
And of course I'm very happy with Alonso's result after last 2 sad years for him. It's allways great having the top drivers on the top cars!
This has just started. I'm sure we'll see awesome races this year
