Apparantly they've tried to make this game a simulation rather than the usual arcade style racer, sounds pretty good to me. Go to You Tube & watch the Brands Hatch track gameplay in High Quality, there's much more detail in the track than anything I've seen in GT5 & it looks more realistic imho.

Spa with G25.

Laguna Seca with G25.

Brands Hatch, cockpit view.

More Gameplay!

Thanks for the video's Martin good job .

I quickly mentioned this game earlier to Dan and I was met with some profanities from him lol

Ive been looking into this game over the last couple of days, but I'm still unsure as to take the plunge and buy it on release.....what with GT5 (supposidly) on the horizon.

cheers

I'm gonna wait & see if they release a playable demo before buying it, it's out on the 17th of September.

If you look at the Spa video the car is moving very realisticly & the inputs he's making from the G25 suggest a much more complex physics model than the other more arcade style Need For Speed games of the past.

I'm a hardcore sim fan & have very little time for arcade racers, but if what they're claiming is true & they have indeed tried to make this a true sim, I think this is one to watch out for!

Here's some more interesting info on this title:

NFS Shift is under development by Slightly Mad Studios, who under their former name Blimey! Games helped develop GT Legends and GTR 2.

Professional setting will require a wheel in order to successfully manage throttle/braking and steering inputs.

Professional setting is more accurate to drive than in GTR2.

Eero Piitulainen of Richard Burns Rally has developed a totally new tire-physics model which is mainly responsible for the new physics.

The difference between the 3 physics-models is in assist levels, while the lowest setting will provide around 10% more tyre grip for beginners.

Need for Speed Shift Review, click me!

"The result is that the team is essentially giving you a racing experience that is extremely close to the real thing in terms of presentation, while keeping the controls just arcadey enough to allow relative newcomers a much easier entryway into the game than the likes of Gran Turismo."
