Thermal paste seems to be the answer.

If your processor has been "cooking", I think it's a bit to late for some new thermal paste, but you never know and it also might be something else.
Never the less, good luck with the screwing, .....in every way.

I finally have the Slim PS3 up and running . The first thing I noticed is how much quieter it is and it also seems to be running alot cooler too . The power On/Off and eject button have a nice pure white backlight to them, also when there is a disc loaded you get a nice blue little light underneath the loading tray .
