yeah i have a wheel, a bog basic Driving Force EX. its a bit limited though, but luckily i've just had clearance from the financial manager (otherwise known as the mrs) to upgrade so i'm looking at a DF-GT
SCC is a good one Jack, probably has the most
demanding handling model of all the PS3 driving games imo
so, my early impressions of SSV8 NC...
graphics - about as good as Shift imo. which to me means not as good as the gfx king, GRID, but good all the same. the gfx on GT5P are no doubt technically very good, but i find them sterile and cold
handling - probably a little too grippy to be considered a sim, but you
can push too hard and get yourself into trouble so its ok
sound - well, all the cars sound the same to me but seeing as they're all V8's i suppose thats to be expected. theres some good ambient sounds though, helicopters overhead etc
gameplay - all the usuals from a driving game. quick race, time trial, race weekend and full championship modes. so all pesent and correct. however, seeing as this a faithful recreation of a real life race series with all the cars, drivers and tracks, theres no option to insert your own name into the game. thats a downer for me, i like to see my name in the tables. a good selection of cars, all V8'S of course. most people online seem to be using the BMW M3 E92, but i've taken a liking to the Chevrolet CR8, its a beaut imo. theres pleny of views to drive from, my favourite being the bonnet-cam. the ai is good. agressive but clean-ish. the jump from hard to legend is too big though i think. i got pole qualifying in hard, but last in legend, so i reckon something in between would be ideal
the best thing about the game for me is the gradual drying of the track in a wet race. although it isnt actually raining at any point, the track starts off completely soaked and then develops a dry line as the race progresses. its slippier when you go off the dry to the wet bits as in real life, which is a great touch imo
definately worth a rent, and i reckon if you're into your console driving games, you'll end up wanting it in your collection
hope thats helpful
