RennSport Wheel Stand by Fanatec

Tested using a Logitech G25 and an X Rocker Gaming Chair.

In an ideal world all of us would buy or build our very own permanent racing cockpit to fully enjoy the experience of driving games/sims. The practicality side of it though is that we just don't have the space or a willing other half " mrs " to accommodate such a permanent racing cockpit.

This is where the RennSport Wheel Stand really shines, it is designed to accommodate a wide range of steering wheels and pedals for console and PC driving games/sims where space is limited.

What's included

The box contains the stand itself, all relevant fixings and step by step pictured instructions. Other accessories are available for the stand such as the RennSport Wheel Stand Pedal Stopper (pictured) and the RennSport Wheel Stand Shifter adapter for Porsche wheels and G25.

Assembly

Building the RennSport Wheel Stand is really easy to do and should take no more than 10 minutes to bolt it all together. Don't be fooled by the quick build time though because this is a beautifully designed and engineered piece of hardware. It's constructed from steel tubing finished in a black smooth flecked powder coat and the pedals are supported by two brushed aluminium base plates. The steering wheel is fitted to a base plate that bolts onto the upright. The stand is then finished off with four rubber anti slip end caps, two that fix to the ends of the steel tubing support and two more that fix to the ends of the aluminium base plates, further detailed with the Fanatec branding.

Adjustment

The height and angle of the steering wheel can all be fully adjusted as well as the pedals on the aluminium base plates (the pedals adjustment further benefit from the use of the pedal stopper). The height of the steering wheel can be adjusted by loosening and tightening a threaded adjuster branded with the Fanatec logo. The angle of the steering wheel is adjusted by loosening and tightening two 8mm allen keys. The pedals just sit on top of the aluminium base plates, they are prone to movement when applying rigorous pressures. I advise the use of the RennSport Pedal Stopper, this allows the top of the pedal base to rest against the pedal stopper and prevents movement of the pedals. All adjustments are really quick and easy to achieve and you will be able to find your perfect driving position within minutes.

Mounting

The steering wheel base plate has various fixing bolt holes to accommodate a wide variety of steering wheels. There is also an additional bracket for holding separate gear shift mechanisms. Relevant fixing bolts are supplied.

Usage

The RennSport Wheel Stand is very sturdy when in use and can easily cope with the vigorous force feedback from the steering wheel. The rubber anti slip end caps prevent the stand from moving and sliding on all types of flooring surfaces. You can use the stand with various pieces of furniture such as a sofa, chair or a dedicated gaming chair, which makes it an ideal all-rounder.

Storage

As claimed by Fanatec "Easy to store away within 10 seconds " which is well within reason. To fold the stand away all that you have to do is untighten the Fanatec branded threaded adjuster and move the upright stand from the vertical position to the horizontal position. Once in the horizontal position the vertical stand holds the pedals securely and is tightened in place using the same Fanatec branded adjuster. The whole setup can then be easily moved and stored away.

Conclusion

This stand is ideal for those of you who want a dedicated steering wheel setup but don't have the room for a full sized cockpit. It's sturdy and well built construction means that it can easily cope with the most vigorous user and it comes with the added benefit of being fully portable and easy to store out of sight.

That looks nice indeed, together with a fully detailed photo-series and technical manual.I hope you enjoy!
I am making some kind of thing on my own,and now I'm wondering,is the 1 vertical bar stiff enough to resist the force feedback?I was planning for making 2 bars in a slight angle towards the base plate where the pedals are going to be mounted.
Also I've made the base plate for the wheel a bit longer on the right side to mount the shifter on.I see you also have a G25,where do you mount this thing?
cheers

Eric the single upright steering support is very capable of coping with the force feedback from the G25. I have made my own mounting plate for the G25 shifter, I really should invest in the propar Fanatec one but I only use the G25 shifter unit for navigation. I change gears using the paddles.

One more thing Eric, if you mount your gear shifter on the right it'll be on the wrong side nana
